Bobby Jack Swan passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Gorman on june 12, 1931, before growing up and living his life in Brownwood. Son of Jacob Calvin and Valeda Swan, Jack married Mary Lou Pruett on Feb. 20, 1954, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. A member of the First Christian Church, he belonged to the Scottish Rite and Masonic Lodge organizations. He retired from the BNSF Railroad in 1984. A talented craftsman, Jack loved restoring classic vehicles, especially World War II-era Jeeps and other civilian and military vehicles. We shall all miss his jokes, pranks and rather mischievous nature as well as his greatest gift of all -- helping others in their time of need. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Swan of Brownwood; one son, Sam Swan of Fort Worth; a brother, Joe B. Swan of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Jerry Ann Dodson of Joshua; and numerous other friends and family members. Private burial services will be held at an undisclosed location and time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or charitable organization of one’s choice.
