Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010, after a brief illness.
Funeral services for Margaret Waldrop Thomason Hood will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Early with the Rev. Eddie Ailshie, the Rev. Lowell Skaggs and John Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Brownwood to Frank and Lula Asbell Waldrop. She was a member of the Early First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and served as the ladies touch staff member. She was a graduate of Brownwood High School, and she attended her 50th class reunion in 1989.
She was married to Marion Thomason in 1940. He was killed Dec. 19, 1944, in France during the Battle of The Bulge while serving his country. Margaret later was married to Powell Hood in January 1951. He passed away May 17, 1970.
She is survived by one daughter and one son; Janice Bean of Brownwood and Frank Thomason of Early. Also a step-son Jackie and wife Lillian Hood of Brownwood. Other survivors are her grandchildren, Debi Pettiet of Abernathy, Derick Middleton of Early and Dawna Middleton of Springfield, Mo.; her great-grandchildren, Chelsea Kaster and husband Jay of Springfield, Mo., Clayton Pettiet of Abernathy and Chase Hogue of Springfield, Mo.; one great-great-grandchild, Will Kaster; and two step-grandchildren, Tim Hood and Pam Standley.
Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her parents, and both of her husbands. Her only brother, Paul Waldrop Sr., passed April 1, 2010.
She will be dearly missed by all. Friend and relatives may contribute to Early First Baptist in her memory.
