D. T. Granad, 84, of North Margaret Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 12, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
A Memorial Service was held Friday, January 14, 2011,at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dean Coonradt officiating.
Interment of cremains will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Brown County, Texas at a later date.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard provided military honors.
D. T. Granad was born January 4, 1927 in Brown County, Texas to Joe and Bealie (Thomas) Granad. He graduated from Williams High School in 1944 in Brown County, Texas. D. T. served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
He married Patsy Scott on July 17, 1957 in Venice, LA. D. T. worked in various jobs before settling in Santa Anna, TX where he worked in the local mines. He relocated to Carlsbad in 1967 to begin work at National Potash. D. T. later worked for IMC and Kerr McGee until retirement. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. D. T. enjoyed working in the yard and tinkering on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy R. Granad and sister, Julienne Hill.
Survivors are his daughter, Connie Lopez and husband, Ronnie; granddaughter, Gina Veilleux of Sabinal, Texas; grandson, Krystopher Lopez of Dilley, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
