Mrs. Finlay died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at her home in Early.
Linda was born on Jan. 22, 1948, in Abilene, the daughter of John and Lois Sissom Roland. She was raised and educated in Eden and had lived in Brown County for the last 29 years. She was a homemaker and was known by all of her friends as “Linda Lou.”
Her favorite thing was the outdoors. When the sun was out, she was too. She loved to fish, garden, go boating and tend to the birds in her yard.
Linda was not a member of a local church, but she believed in God and loved him. She loved to deal with God one-on-one when she was outdoors. She loved her kitchen and enjoyed cooking for a big crowd of people. She was a very strong, hard working woman and the jams, canned vegetables, fried potatoes, okra and squash that came out of her garden were unbeatable. She also was a master at sewing, quilting and various other craft projects.
Linda looked forward to her fishing trips to Port Aransas. She loved to walk along the beach and collect seashells while enjoying the palm trees and watching the waves roll into shore. She also loved camping with her husband and a close-knit group of friends from her high school days.
Linda’s main concern was the happiness and well-being of others and she spent most of her time pampering the loved ones around her. She will be greatly missed and will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mom, friend, grandma and auntie.
