SNYDER -- Funeral service for Velma Marie Cumba, 81, of Snyder, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Clay Giddings, minister of education, officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near May. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today, at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home She died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in Snyder. She was born on Sept. 3, 1927, in Pioneer, to Bentley and Esther Woodfin Dupriest. She was married to Earl Cumba on Aug. 10, 1946, in Rising Star. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was active in the Women’s Missionary Union. She and her husband had lived in Snyder for some 20 years prior to moving to Brownwood after retirement. She moved back to Snyder in 2006. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Bobby Rice of Snyder and Mary and Don Babcock of Littleton, Colo.; a son, Robert Cumba of Lake Brownwood; brother, Garland Dupriest of Rankin; sister, Odell Pemberton of Lyndon Wash.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; and three brothers, Melvin, Duncan, Donald and W. L. Dupriest. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
