Mrs. Briggs was born in Callahan County, Texas, on July 3, 1917, to Adrain and Badie Ponder Hallmark. She lived in Merkel, Texas, for a number of years. She has lived in Brown County for the past nine years. She was a member of the Merkel Church of Christ. On Feb. 14, 1999, she was married to Harvey Briggs. Gaynell was an excellent artist. She loved senior dances and traveling.
Gaynell is survived by her husband, Harvey Briggs of May, Texas; her grandchildren, Dalinda Preston of Houma, La. and Patricia LeBlanc of Lafayette, La.; one great-granddaughter, Tera LeBlanc; and a great-great-granddaughter, Abby LeBlanc. She is also survived by two brothers, Billy Hallmark of Anson, Texas, and Ronald Hallmark of Moran, Texas; one sister, Geneva Watts of Lake Fork, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Patricia Dell and Charlotte Ann McCoy; and two brother, Dall Hallmark and Delmer Hallmark
