Early - Preston Boyd, age 81, of Early and formerly of Odessa, died early Thursday morning in a San Angelo hospital following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
He was born July 26, 1925 in Holder, Texas, the son of the late Robert L. and Lola Ethel Arnold Boyd. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was married to Betty McQueen on April 12, 1947. He worked as a shop foreman for B&B Construction in Odessa prior to moving to Early in 1989. He also was a former real estate broker in Brownwood for several years. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Odessa.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Boyd of Early; a son, Grady Boyd and wife Margaret of Brownwood; a daughter, Pamela Daniels and husband Steve of Keller; four grandchildren, Tamara Wells, Robert Boyd, Whitney Blain and Forrest Boyd; and seven great-grandchildren also survive him.
