Funeral services for Billy Bob Adkins, 76, of May, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Edmond Wheeless officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Mr. Adkins died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, in May. He was born July 9, 1928, in Athens. He was raised and educated in Stratford. He was a charter member and a trustee at Crossroads Baptist Church. He worked for 42 years for Phillips Petroleum until retirement in 1992. He had lived in the community for 21 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pruett and Della Adkins; and one brother, Bruett Adkins. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Adkins of May; two sons, Robert Adkins of San Antonio and Billy Adkins of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Christa Porter of May; two sisters, Viola Springfield of McKinney and Eloise Bensley of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
