BANGS --Graveside service for Velma Forbess Madderra, 94, of Brownwood will be at 2 p.m. today, March 31, in Bangs Cemetery with Terry Savoie officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. She died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 5, 1908, in Burnet. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1951 and was a member of Austin Ave. Church of Christ. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Brownwood Independent School District, a member of Woodland Heights Garden Club, and a member of Brownwood ReAct.
Survivors include a son, Joe Forbess of Brownwood; a daughter, Wanda Ely Connaway and husband Delbert; three grandsons, Terry Savoie and wife Kay of San Angelo, Wayne Ely and wife Bonnie of Brownwood, and Joe D. Forbess of Brownwood; a brother, Kenneth Thompson of Seminole; a sister, Grace Preston and husband Charles of Belton; a granddaughter, Janie S. Ely of Austin; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
